FROM/DE: SCHOOL BUSSES AND CROSSING GUARDS TAKE BACK THE ROADS ( Members of Oxford County OPP would like to remind all drivers to take extra caution while driving and make themselves aware of the busses and crossing guards. Drivers should: Expect longer travel times Expect numerous stops and starts Expect young children crossing the roadway Stop Stop when a crossing guard has their stop sign displayed and only move forward once the guard AND children are out of the intersection Parents also need to ensure their children are obeying proper safety rules for riding the bus and walking, including: Standing back from the roadway while waiting for the school bus to arrive Make sure all traffic has stopped before crossing the roadway Keeping their “heads up” as they cross the road looking for dangerous situations Crossing well in front of the bus so the bus driver can see them Following the directions of the crossing guards for the best time to cross the street and doing so at the appropriate time and place - 30 - Contact:
