Renfrew OPP Weekly News Release

 

 

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to 143 calls for service during the past week.

 

Theft

 

A trailer was stolen from a property in McNab/Braeside Township overnight on March 2nd.  The trailer is described as a tandem axle dump trailer, Ont. Lic. E9332Y, with a green and beige striped tarp on it.  Constable John Birmingham is investigating.

 

A shoplifter fled on foot after stealing items from Wal-Mart on March 5th at approx. 11:30am.  The male’s image was captured on store security and the investigation by Constable Layton Mulvihill is continuing.

 

A Milwaukee hammer drill was stolen from a locked vehicle on Stewart St. in Renfrew.  The theft took place over the weekend of Feb. 27-28. 

 

Domestic Disputes

 

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to 8 domestic disputes during the past week.  One male was charged with mischief, one male was charged with assault and assault with a weapon.  No charges were laid in the other 6 cases as no criminal offences occurred.

 

Impaired Driver

 

On Monday, March 1st at approx. 3:30pm Renfrew OPP officers responded to a possible impaired driver after receiving a call from a concerned motorist on Highway 17 in the Township of McNab/Braeside.  Constable Joey Limlaw responded and located the suspect vehicle.  The male driver was arrested and following breath tests at the detachment charges were laid.  James Greaves, age 66 of Renfrew was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs.  He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on April 14th.
