Motor Vehicle Collision
(Quinte West, Ontario)
– On August 25th, 2010
at 3:00pm the Quinte West OPP
responded to a motor vehicle collision on Dundas St.
W. in Trenton. A vehicle pulling out of a parking lot
struck an 11 yr old cyclist. The
cyclist was riding with a friend west bound on the south sidewalk. The friend made it past the vehicle but the
young male did not. Luckily the
vehicle was traveling at a very slow speed.
The young male was struck and knocked off of his bike. The bike ended up wedged under the
vehicle. The young male got up and
walked to the sidewalk. Ambulance
attended and took the young male to Trenton
Memorial Hospital. He was treated for a scraped knee and
bruises then released to his awaiting parents. The driver, a male adult of Trenton,
was not charged with any traffic offences.
The young male was wearing his helmet which prevented,
with out a doubt, more serious injuries.
The Quinte West OPP would like to remind the public drive carefully.
The children of our community are still playing outside during the daytime
and are not yet back to school.
