ROAD CLOSURE

 

(TRENTON, ON) – 8 Wing Trenton is hosting an Armed Forces Weekend and Air Display on July 4th and 5th, 2009. Old Highway 2 will have a traffic interruption due to the show from 6:00 am Saturday the 4th until 7:00pm Sunday the 5th.

 

The road closure is from RCAF Road and Old Highway 2 at the west end of the base and Whites Road to the east will be closed.

 

Quinte West OPP are asking people to use the following detour routes: RCAF Road to Hamilton Road, and Whites Road to Hamilton Rd

 

Old Highway 2 will be opened to local traffic between Whites Rd and Quinte View Rd.

 

Vehicles are not permitted to park along RCAF RD and vehicles parking in these areas may be towed at the owner’s expense.

 

Quinte West OPP would also like to remind the public that parking lots at the businesses located along Dundas St East are for customers only.

2009 Canadian Law Enforcement & Fire Games

 

 

(TRENTON, ON) Our community has been chosen to host the 2009 Canadian Law Enforcement & Fire Games July 6th to 12th 2009. We are very proud of the honor bestowed upon our detachment and look forward to welcoming participants and spectators to the games which foster stronger relationships among police, fire and EMS personnel from across the country.

 

On July 5th, at 1300hrs, representatives from C.L.E.F.G., O.P.P. East Region Chief Superintendent Gary Couture, Quinte West Detachment Commander Inspector Earl Johns and His Worship Mayor John Williams will be on hand for the presentation of a $9,000.00 cheque to the local chapter of the Special Olympics. The presentation will be at the O.P.P. 100th Anniversary exhibit, located on the south side, at C.F.B. Trenton during the Armed Forces Weekend and Air Display.

JUNE 19, 2009 Fail to Remain MVC Update

 

(TRENTON, ON) – On June 19, 2009 Quinte West OPP investigated a fail to remain MVC on County Rd 2 between Trenton and Brighton. A suspect and a suspect vehicle have since been located and the female driver from Brighton faces several Highway Traffic Act charges.

SUMMER BICYCLE SAFETY

 

(TRENTON, ON) – As summer is upon us the Quinte West OPP would like to remind public that people of all ages will be out in full force on there bicycles. Parties operating motor vehicles are remind to give cyclist room on the sides of the roads and cyclists are remind to ride in single file on the right hand side of the road.

 

Helmets are advised for riders of all ages but are a must for cyclists under the age of 18. Cyclists also must have a horn or a bell and lights on there bicycles.

 

 

THEFT’S FROM CARS

 

Sometime overnight on June 29, 2009 Quinte West OPP report that vehicles in Frankford were entered, property and change was taken from the vehicles.

 

OPP would like to remind everyone to lock there doors at nights and keep any valuables out of site of would be thieves.

 

BREAK AND ENTERS

 

Quinte West OPP are currently investigating 2 commercial Break and Enters that took place overnight June 29, 2009 on Old Highway 2, Sidney Ward.

 

The 2 businesses sustained extensive damage as the unknown suspects entered the businesses. At this time it is not known the exact value of damage or theft from the businesses.

Reference:  Motor Vehicle Collision

 

Quinte West OPP are looking for any witnesses in regards to a Motor Vehicle Collision which occurred this date at approximately 10pm on Wallbridge-Loyalist Rd. near Grills Rd.

The suspect vehicle, a blue  pickup, should have extensive damage to the front end after rear ending a camper trailer which was being towed at the time by the owners.   The camper was written off, but fortunately enough no injuries were sustained to the driver and passenger.

News Release

 

 

Quinte West OPP Vehicle Fires  SP09138147 SP09138186: Quinte West OPP on June 25, 2009 at 6:18 pm and 7:11pm attended two separate vehicle fires. One being on Hwy 33 near Lock 1 and the other at Karten Metals off Subway Road. 

 

Quinte West OPP- MVA SP09138226:  Quinte West OPP on June 25, 2009 at 8:06pm responded to a vehicle rollover on Airport Road with no injuries. A 58 year old male has been charged with careless driving and vehicle was removed from the scene.

 

Quinte West OPP Impaired SP09138334:  Quinte West OPP on June 25, 2009 at 10:30pm while on general patrol stopped a vehicle pulling boat. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was released for a later court date.
