Police were called to the area of County Road 64 following a car/deer collision.

Unknown value of damage to the vehicle.

A complaint was received from a motorist regarding a possibly impaired

motorist driving along County Road 40 in Murray ward. A vehicle description

was obtained and the vehicle was located at a residence. Impairment was

determined to be unfounded. The 18-year-old driver was traveling slowly as

he was upset with the complainant flashing her vehicle’s high beams.

While on routine patrol officers noted a male stumbling across Campbell

Street in Trenton ward. After initial investigation the 25-year-old Trenton ward

resident was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He

was lodged in a cell at the Quinte West O.P.P. detachment until he sobered

PROJECT “LONGARM” IS A JOINT-FORCES DRUG ENFORCEMENT TEAM COMPRISED OF OFFICERS FROM THE ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE DRUG ENFORCEMENT SECTION, BELLEVILLE POLICE SERVICE, QUINTE WEST, BANCROFT, CENTRE HASTINGS AND PRINCE EDWARD ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE DETACHMENTS

 

High-Risk Vehicle Stop and Crack Cocaine Search Warrants Executed

 

            Project “Longarm” investigators, assisted by members of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and members of the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, conducted a high-risk vehicle stop shortly after 2 a.m. this date. A vehicle was stopped on the Highway 401 off-ramp at Highway 37 and two men were arrested. A loaded handgun and a quantity of marihuana were seized from the vehicle.  The 401 off-ramp was closed to traffic for about 15 minutes as a result. This vehicle stop led to two search warrants:

 

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) was executed by investigators, assisted by the Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team, shortly thereafter at a Belleville address. A second loaded handgun was seized in addition to a quantity of crack cocaine and cash.

 

A second CDSA search warrant was then executed at another Belleville address, where police seized quantities of crack cocaine and marihuana.

 

Charged with various drug and weapons offences are:

 

Michael OGUNDIGIE, Age 29, of Belleville.

Dwayne LAWRENCE, Age 27, of Belleville.

Ashley LOFT, Age 22, of Belleville.

 

The three accused will appear in court for a show cause hearings later today.

As a result of a driving complaint on Loyalist  Parkway, initially thought to be a impaired driver, a 49-year-old male has been charged with driving without a licence and driving a motor vehicle without plates. Impaired driving was

unfounded.

Police were called to the area of McGill Street in Trenton ward after a resident

reported a suspicious male wandering around on the street yelling. A

description was provided. The area was checked however the male was not

Domestic Assault

 

(Quinte West, Ontario) – Officers from the Quinte West OPP were called to a residence in Trenton Ward at 11:56pm on May 04, 2008 regarding a domestic dispute.  An adult female drove her van into the house belonging to her ex-boyfriend.  She nearly stuck her ex-boyfriend who was standing on the steps.  The female got out of the van and broke into the residence.  She broke several items of property belonging to her ex-boyfriend.  Officers attended the residence and had to subdue the female using pepper spray.

 

As a result of the investigation a female person, unable to be identified to protect the identity of the victim, was charged with Assault with a Weapon Sec. 267(a) of the Criminal Code, Dangerous Driving Sec.249(a) of the Criminal Code, Break & Enter with Intent Sec. 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and Mischief Under $5,000.00 Sec. 430(4) of the Criminal Code.  The female was held in custody  and is to appear in bail court on May 05, 2008 at 15 Victoria Ave., Belleville.

Weapons

(Quinte West, Ontario) – Officers from the Quinte West OPP were called to a residence in Trenton Ward at 8:00pm on Saturday May 3, 2008 regarding a shot fired through an apartment wall.  A male was looking at a newly purchased rifle.  He loaded a round then chambered it.  At this point the gun went off.  A single round was discharged.  The round traveled through the apartment wall, into the neighbours apartment, through his wall unit, cd’s, through a second wall and came to rest on the floor of the victim’s bedroom.  Police contained the area and evacuated neighbouring apartments.  Before long the accused and his son returned to the apartment.  The incident appears to have been an accidental discharge.  A Remington 280.ca bolt action rifle was seized at the scene as well as ammunition.  Thankfully no one was injured.

 

As a result of the investigation Glen Anderson, 67yrs old of Marmora, was charged with Careless use of a firearm Sec. 86(1) of the Criminal Code and Weapons Dangerous Sec. 88 of the Criminal Code and is to appear in court on June 13, 2008 at 8:30am at 15 Victoria Av., Belleville, Ontario.

 

Theft

(Quinte West, Ontario) On Saturday May 3, 2008Quinte West OPP were called to Wal-Mart on 2nd Dug Hill Rd. in regards to a shoplifter.    A total of $316.00 worth of miscellaneous items were taken from the store.

 

As a result, 49yr old Catherine FENNEMA of Dundas, ON was charged with Theft Under sec 334CC.  She was released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date later this month.

OPP EAST REGION HIGHWAY SAFETY DIVISION ARREST 2 FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

 

(Quinte West, Ontario)-  Officers of the East Region, Highway Safety Division arrested 2 individuals for impaired driving on the opening weekend of the  2008 Walleye fishing season.

 

Traffic Management Unit Officers were out in the Quinte West area conducting numerous R.I.D.E checks throughout the city on Friday.  Police laid various Liquor and Highway Traffic Act Charges, as well as issuing 2 twelve hour driving suspensions to motorists registering a “Warn” on an approved screening device.  A quantity of liquor was also seized from drivers during the routine checks.

 

Charged with OVER 80 milligrams

 

Joyce HASENBERGER, 48 years of age of Trenton had been charged with Impaired Driving and Disqualified Driving.  She was released with a court date in Belleville next month.

 

      2.  Also charged was Glen McCOLL, 45 years of age of Frankford.  McCOLL

           was consequently held for a bail hearing.

Quinte West OPP SP08086968 Motor Vehicle Collision

Quinte West OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 5 on May 2, 2008 at 04:15am. On  police arrival a vehicle was in the deep ditch causing moderate damage. Investigation revealed a pickup truck had crossed over the centerline on a curve on the highway causing a small grey Hyundai to enter the north ditch causing moderate damage.The passenger received  minor injuries to her facial area.

Police are asking if anyone witnessed this motor vehicle collision to contact the OPP Detachment at 613  392 3561.

29 April 2008: Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a residential Break,Enter and Theft in Trenton ward today, as a result of investigation 2 youths were subsequently charged with the offence.  They are being held in custody, awaiting bail hearing 30Apr.

 

29 April 2008: Police are looking for a male party reported missing, last seen in Trenton on 26 April.  Chad Richardson 29yrs, description 6’2”, 205lbs.  If his whereabouts is known, please call your local police or OPP.

29April 2008:  OPP were called to a Sidney St. residence when there was a report of youths firing a weapon, possibly a BB gun at another youth.  Youths were located with a toy airgun, with plastic pellets.  They were cautioned in regards to their actions. No injuries.

 

29April 2008:  OPP received a complaint of persons shooting golf balls at oncoming vehicles in Murray ward, Loyalist Parkway.  Parties were not located after several patrols in area.  No further complaints were
