DRUGS SEIZED ON 401

 

 

(Kemptville, ON.) – Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police have charged two people in connection with a traffic stop on Highway 401 east of Highway 416.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on August 31st, a 2001 Honda Odyssey was stopped for a traffic violation. The officer observed a substance believed to be marijuana on the centre console of the vehicle as well as an odour of the illegal substance. As a result of a search of the vehicle 20 pounds of marijuana was seized.

Mr. Van Tuan Dang, age 36 of Montreal was charged with fail to signal a lane change, possession of marijuana under 30 grams and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Ms. Thu Dinh, age 20 of Montreal was charged with possession of marijuana under 30 grams and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both parties were released on a recognizance to appear in Brockville Court on November 5th, 2010.

O.P.P. WEEKLY REPORT

 

(Prescott, ON.) – Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a fatal collision on County Road 2, Edwardsburgh Township.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on August 30th, Police were dispatched to a two vehicle collision east of Blair Road. A Toyota Echo was traveling west on County Road 2 when a Chrysler Intrepid traveling east entered the west bound lane striking the driver’s side of the Echo. The Echo flipped over and landed on the roof in the north ditch. The Intrepid traveled approximately 100 metres and also landed in the north ditch.

The driver of the Echo, Peter Biggs, age 48 of Prescott was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver’s 18 year old son, Jason Biggs suffered minor injuries. Both men were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the Intrepid, Billy Joe Armstrong, age 28 of Prescott was transported by ambulance to Brockville Hospital and later transferred to the Ottawa Civic Hospital by air ambulance with severe injuries. It is unknown if Mr. Armstrong was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol appears to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.

O.P.P. WEEKLY REPORT

 

 

 

(Kemptville, ON.) – Between August 23rd and August 29th, Kemptville Office of North Grenville Ontario Provincial Police investigated 111 general occurrences: 27 Kemptville, 61 Municipality of North Grenville, 11 Village of Merrickville – Wolford and 12 on Highway 416.

On August 26th, Police were dispatched to a daylight residential break and enter on County Road 44, North Grenville. Culprit(s) entered a garage and stole an assortment of instruments and a crossbow. The investigation is ongoing.  

On the evening of August 26th, Police received a complaint of two males entering parked vehicles on George Street, Kemptville. The males were located inside of a vehicle and were arrested. Craig John Michael Badour, age 18 of Carleton Place was charged with trespassing near a dwelling house and theft under $5,000.

On August 27th, Police were dispatched to daylight break and enter at a home on Boundary Road, North Grenville. The culprit(s) broke into the residence and stole jewellery and electronics. The investigation is ongoing.

During the early morning of August 28th, Police were dispatched to a home on Crozier Road, North Grenville. Approximately, ten minutes prior to the call the home owner’s mailbox was damaged. A patrol of the area resulted in a pick up being stopped on Crozier Road with five males huddled in the rear and two males inside of the vehicle. A metal pipe was observed in the bed of the truck. Further investigation resulted in the six adult males and one male youth being arrested for damaging several mailboxes on Crozier Road. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two metal pipes and a bottle of alcohol. The males stated that they had damaged mailboxes on Crozier Road, Lindsay Road, Pattersons Corners, McGovern Road, Beach Road, Dennison Road and Bedell Road. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
