     Officers from the OPP’s Highway Safety Division (HSD) Traffic Management Unit were conducting RIDE checks throughout Prince Edward County this evening. A commercial vehicle was stopped on Cty Rd 19 and the driver was found to be drinking. Facing a charge of driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood is 47 yr old Douglas Hoekstra of Grafton, Ontario. He’s appearing in PIcton Court on June 11th. Officers also issued two 12 hour suspensions and conducted  six roadside screening device tests.

Prince Edward Detachment        RELEASE: 02 May 2008

 

Intoxicated Persons Reports

 

(Prince Edward County)  Two separate reports were received yesterday afternoon, the 1st of May, of intoxicated males in the Picton area.  The first complaint was received at 3:30pm regarding a trio of drunk males sitting on a bench in front of the Picton library.  When police arrived only one male was present.  The officer determined he had been drinking, but was not intoxicated.  The male was transported home.  The second complaint was received just before 6:00pm of two males walking along West Mary Street.  The males were located by police and again found to have been drinking, but not intoxicated.  The males were encouraged to head home.

 

Car/Deer Collision

 

(Prince Edward County)  At 8:30pm on the 1st of May, a report of a car and deer collision was received by Prince Edward County OPP.  The car was traveling along Cty Rd 3 in Ameliasburgh when a deer ran out in front of it and was struck, causing significant damage to the car and killing the deer.  The driver was not hurt.
