Lanark OPP Issue 143 Charges

Yesterday, the Lanark County OPP detachment with the assistance of the OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) worked together in the fight to reduce aggressive driving with a focus on speeding in Glen Tay, Tay Valley Township.

Between 6:00am and 6:00pm, officers laid 143 charges which include:

123 - speeding
2 – vehicle impoundments for over 50km/hr
18 - seatbelt
And
1 – 12 hour suspension for warn on road side screening device.

Lanark County officers are out again today, so slow down and use due caution.

Due to the increase in major incidents on our highways and in our townships, drivers can expect to see Lanark County OPP officers during the next few months, conducting educational enforcement…so drive safe, be attentive and slow down!

Drivers who are traveling over the posted speed limits, especially in community safety zones, are not only a danger to themselves and other motorists, but to the children who are always present in these areas. As their speeds increase, so too does their stopping distance and their reaction time.

Help keep our community and children safe.  SLOW DOWN!

Safe driving begins with you.  Everyone’s life depends on it!
