Break and Enters for Batteries
LP08107788
(Chatsworth, ON.) As a sign of the times in terms
of the value of raw materials Grey County O.P.P. is investigating the theft of a
bunch of old used car batteries.
Police
were called and officers attended the Egremont
Landfill Site in the Southgate Township on the 10th
of May, 2008 where it was reported that 75 car batteries had been stolen. The
person or persons responsible removed the front gate and entered the landfill
site. After locating the battery storage building they removed siding panels
on the rear of the shed and then removed the used car batteries. The panels
on the building were replaced when the theft was complete and on the way out
of the site the gate was re-installed.
It is
believed the theft occurred between 4 pm on the 9th

the theft is the copper plates in the batteries which now have a value of
about $7-$8.00 each.
Anyone
with information that might assist in this investigation is asked to contact
Grey County O.P.P. or Crime Stoppers. Constable Richard Kiss is
the investigating officer.

Who Let the Mini Horses Out?
LP08106074
(Chatsworth, ON.) Like the common stadium song,
“who let the dogs out” reports of mini horses running on Highway
6 last week had Grey County O.P.P. wondering who let the mini-horses out.
The first
call came in on Thursday (08-May-08) during the noon hour when a concerned
motorist stopped at a home on Highway 6 to report he had just seen a small
herd of mini horses running on the highway in the area of Side Road 5 in
Chatsworth Township. The police received other reports around the same time.
An officer attended and patrolled, however no mini horses were found.
About 3
hours later a second call was received about 4 mini horses, three or four
feet tall, running on the highway. Fortunately, this time a person in the
neighbourhood with a fenced in area was able to coral them and keep them
secure.
The owner
was contacted and arrangements have been made for their retrieval, probably
today (12-May-08 ).

Youth Flees After Knife Threat
LP08104505
(Chatsworth, ON.) Grey County O.P.P. conducted a search today along
the west limits of Owen Sound in an attempt to locate a youth
who had allegedly made a threat with a knife and fled.
The
incident began at residence situated just outside the city in Georgian
Bluffs. Police received a report that a 14-year old youth had physically
assaulted his mother and older brother. During the altercation with his
brother the youth indicated he had a knife on his person and threatened to
use it. He then fled on foot into the escarpment area that borders the
southwest corner of Owen Sound. Officers responded within
10 minutes and immediately initiated a search utilizing the Grey County O.P.P. Canine Unit.
The scope
of the search went north along the escarpment and into the area west of St. Basil School. Because the students were about
to be discharged for the day, school officials were advised of the situation
and police activity in the area. As a precaution the school chose to keep the
students in and implement a lockdown procedure.
The youth has not yet been located. He has been identified
by police but his name is being withheld due to the provisions of the Youth
Criminal Justice Act. It is believed the original incident was domestic in
nature and that the youth doesn’t represent a threat to the general
public.
