(NAPANEE, ON) -  Salvation Army Thrift Store used as a garbage dump

Management from The Thrift Store in Napanee has reported an on-going problem with an abundance of garbage being dumped after hours in the collection bins of the store.  From old mattress to actual household garbage has littered the premises and left the store with the task of getting rid of it.   The problem has cost the non-profitable store a huge amount of money that had decreased their margin of success of operation.   If the store doesn’t come out with a small margin of profit, which gets re-invested in the Thrift store operations, the store could face closer, just as the Pembroke store did.

The cost of disposing large items and simply a lot of garbage is substantial.

Due to the on-going problem, the store will enhance security and ban after hours drop off.    Anyone found guilty of dumping garbage on private property could face fines up to $5000. under the environmental act  and depending on the judges verdict.
