News Flash Police Reports February 05-08, 2010
(NAPANEE,ON) - Local
man pulled over, arrested and charged with drugs related offences
February 05, 2010 around 8:00 pm, while on regular patrol,
OPP Napanee Officers pulled over a vehicle on Bridge St., Napanee. Officers found the male driver in
possession of illegal drugs and placed him under arrest. Marc Alan Roman KINACH, 38yrs, of Napanee
was subsequently charged with
Possession of Schedule ll Cannabis Marihuana under 30grams
Possession for the Purpose Schedule l – Cocaine
Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose
His vehicle was seized and he is currently before the
courts.
(LOYALIST TWP, ON) - Police
K-9 and Emergency Response Team (ERT) respond to a disturbance in Odessa
February 06, 2010
at apprx. 4:00 pm, OPP
Loyalist Detachment investigated a disturbance in Odessa
and was assisted by K-9 and ERT members looking for a male subject the had
fled on foot. The investigation is
still on-going.
(DESERONTO, ON ) - Break and Enter at the Deseronto Arena
Culprits broke in the Community Centre February 06, 2010. The canteen was entered and $150. was
stolen for the cash register tilt.
OPP Napanee Scenes of Crime (SOCO) Officer attended to assist with the
investigation. The investigation is
continuing. If anyone has any information pertaining to this matter,

(NAPANEE,ON) - 401 Hwy vehicle crash ~ Car stuck under a
Tractor Trailer
OPP Napanee responded to a crash February 01, 2010 around
4:30. A tractor trailer was travelling
on 401 hwy near Quinte West area when it failed to drive in it’s marked
lane, and struck a vehicle in the passing lane. It crushed the vehicle into the concrete
barrier, forcing the car to get stuck beneath the flat bed trailer. Fire, Ambulance and OPP Napanee Officers
were on scene. The occupants were
extricated from the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. The hwy was partially closed for a few
hours. The truck driver, 60yrs, of
Malahide ON, was charged under the highway traffic act.
(NAPANEE, ON) – Police
bust result in 2 local men charged with drug offences
OPP Napanee, Drug
Enforcement Officers executed a search warrant at a Belleville Rd residence
in Napanee February 02, 2010. As a
result of search, drugs were seized and 2 men were arrested and charged with
drug related offences and other criminal code offences. Dustin Thomas RICHMOND, 19yrs of Napanee
and Andrew Kenneth SCANLON, 21yrs of Camden East were charged with Possession
for Purpose of Schedule II under 3kgs (aka Drug Trafficking ), Possession of
Property Obtained by Crime under $ 5000.00 and Possession of Schedule II
Cannabis. SCANLON also faces an
additional charge of Breach of Probation Order. The investigation is still on-going.
(DESERONTO, ON) – A stolen A.T.V. is recovered in Deseronto
February 03, 2010, OPP Napanee recovered an All Terrain
Vehicle on Mill St. in Deseronto which had been reported stolen from
Brockville. The investigation is
currently on-going.
(NAPANEE, ON) - Teens warned of Dangerous Conditions
OPP Napanee received several calls from Napanee residents
reporting their concerns for local youth’s safety as they continue to
play hockey/walk on the Napanee river at Spring Side Park. The public is again reminded of the dangers
of open water and due to the recent mild temperature; the ice is not safe to
be playing on it.

Owner witnessed the theft of his
snowmobiles
An Amherstview man heard suspects stealing his snowmobiles
from a secured trailer on February 03, 2010
2:45 am. He gave chase behind
the apartment buildings on Amherst Drive towards the Golf Club and then the
Quarry near Coronation Blvd., where the suspects abandoned the sleds and fled
on foot. OPP Loyalist, K-9 and
Emergency Response Team members searched the area with negative results. The investigation in on-going. Anyone with information pertaining to the
theft is to contact OPP Loyalist at 613-386-8601.
(STONE MILLS TWP, ON) -
House Fire in Stone Mills is
currently being investigated by Officials
A home on Miller Rd, caught fire February 03, 2010 around
6:15 am. Police and Fire
attended. The Fire department
successfully extinguished the fire, however the home is 60% destroyed. The investigation is continuing.
(NAPANEE, ON) - Driver injured after crash on off ramp
A driver lost control coming off 401 hwy ramp near Quinte
West causing the vehicle to crash into the guardrails. The damaged vehicle blocked the lane for
over an hour. Fire and Ambulance were
at scene. The driver was transported
to Trenton Hospital with minor injuries.
OPP Napanee charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act.
(LOYALIST TWP, ON) -
Father and Son resist arrest and
both face charges
OPP Loyalist investigated a complaint of harassment that later
led to the arrest of men in Amherstview, February 05, 2010 around
midnight. Charged with Harassment and
Resist Arrest are : John HARRIS,
24yrs, of Kingston and John Edgar HARRIS, 46yrs, of Odessa. Both were released from custody the
following morning and are scheduled to appear in Napanee Provincial Court
March 16, 2010.
(LENNOX and ADDINGTON CTY, ON) - Several Telephone FRAUD
reported in our area, protect your I.D.
Community members have reported an on-going telephone fraud. People are reminded to never give out
credit card information over the telephone, unless you are the one calling
and making a purchase. The “
fraudsters “call, introduce themselves as an employee of a credit card
company and later asks you to confirm your card information including your 3
digit # behind the card. Once
complainant described his situation as intimidating as the “
fraudster” got angry and swearing at the complainant as her kept refusing
to give out the 3 digits on the card.
