OPP CHARGE PORT McNICOLL MAN WITH

POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

 

(Midland, ON) -  Members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section and the OPP Southern Georgian Bay Crime Unit have arrested and charged a Port McNicoll man following a child pornography investigation.

 

On February 28, 2008, police executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a Port McNicoll residence and seized a large quantity of electronic evidence including 2 computers, approximately 1000 VHS videotapes, and related CD’s containing images of child sexual abuse (Child Pornography).  

 

On May 7, 2008, police arrested 70 year-old Ronald Sauve of Port McNicoll, and charged him with one count of Possession of Child Pornography.  Sauve is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice located at 114 Worsley Street, Barrie, on May 8, 2008.

School Continues To Be The Target of Spray Painting Vandals

           
(Penetanguishene, Ontario) – Penetanguishene Secondary School has been the target of spray painting vandals over the past couple of weeks and a fourth occurrence was again reported to police yesterday morning.

Police were notified by custodial staff at the school after a message was left on one of the walls at the back of the school and a symbol was painted on one of the school doors  sometime overnight. Police and the administrative staff at the school are working together to bring a resolve to these senseless acts of vandalism and are asking anyone with information to contact the O.P.P. at  (705) 526-3761 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous and does not subscribe to call display. You will never have to testify in court and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.00.

                Truck Recovered By Police Before Being Reported Stolen

(Penetanguishene, Ontario) – Yesterday morning, shortly after 10:00AM, two officers from the Southern Georgian Bay O.P.P. observed a motor vehicle traveling southbound on Edward St. in front of St. Ann’s Elementary School at Sulky Drive and it failed to stop for the stop sign.

The officers followed the motor vehicle into the parking lot of Penetanguishene Secondary School where it was located a short time later. While investigating the driver for a number of  Highway Traffic Act offences, the Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Communications Centre in Orillia received information from the registered owner of the motor vehicle that it was stolen from a residence located in Port McNicoll.

Upon the arrival of additional units from the Southern Georgian Bay O.P.P., the driver and two male passengers were taken into custody without incident and transported to the detachment for further investigation.

After a thorough investigation, the driver, 18-year old Arron Mooney  was charged with Theft Over $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00 and was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for later today in Barrie. The two, passengers, whose identity cannot be disclosed under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act were released unconditionally and were not charged in regards to this matter.

Loaded Firearm Found After Suspended Driver Arrested

       
(Midland, Ontario) – Late yesterday morning, officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Central North Drug Unit stopped a motor vehicle that was traveling on Highway 93 in the Town of Midland. The driver, who was known to the investigators, was arrested for Driving While under Suspension and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking relating to a previous criminal matter.

While at the scene, the police seized a computer bag that was found in the driver’s seat area and located in it a .22 calibre handgun, that was loaded and had one round of ammunition in the chamber.

In addition to the two charges that the driver was originally arrested for, 38-year old Lance Earl Andrews of Newton Street in Victoria Harbour is facing 5 additional firearms related charges and has been held in custody pending a Bail Hearing scheduled for today at the Barrie Courthouse.

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Breach of Firearms Regulation

Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Ammunition

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
