PHARMACY ROBBERY

 

(SOUTHWEST, ON)  Middlesex OPP Crime Unit is currently investigating an armed robbery which occurred on March 8, 2010 at approximately 2:30 pm at a pharmacy on Main Street.

 

A lone male entered the Guardian Pharmacy, displayed a weapon to the pharmacist and handed over a note demanding prescription medication.

 

The suspect was given a quantity of medication before he fled the store on foot.

 

The suspect is described as:

 

Male, Caucasian, approximately 25 years of age

5’8”, thin build

Short hair

Last seen wearing a black toque, black T-shirt, brown undershirt, blue jeans, white gloves and a bandana

MIDDLESEX MEDIA BRIEFS

 

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) Middlesex OPP officers continued to conduct RIDE checks over the weekend.  Officers set up RIDE checks on Longwoods Road, Middlesex Centre and Dorchester Road in Thames Centre.  180 vehicles were checked and 2 Highway Traffic Act violations were issued.

 

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON)  On Saturday March 6, 2010, at approximately 12:30 am, a Middlesex OPP officer observed a vehicle weaving across the centre line on Elginfield Road near Centre Road.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested.  The officer seized open liquor from the vehicle as well as a quantity of marihuana.

 

Ismar SMAILBEGOVIC, age 18, of London is charged with impaired driving and over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code.  He faces additional charges of person under 19 years having liquor and driving a motor vehicle with open liquor contrary to the Liquor licence Act.  As well, he faces a charge of G2 driver with BAC above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

 

Two passengers in the vehicle were also charged.  A 16 year old male from London was charged with person under 19 consuming liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act and 19 year old Shelton AITKEN, of London, was charged with possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as having open liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

 

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON)  On Saturday March 6, 2010, Middlesex OPP officers were on routine patrol on Saintsbury Line when they observed a male walking with a beer.  Tyler MEDD, age 20, of London, is charged with having open liquor in other then licenced premises contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

 

(ADELAIDE-METCALFE, ON) On Sunday March 7, 2010 at approximately 3:30 am, Middlesex OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Hickory Drive near Highway 402.  The driver, 35 year old Dallas WALSH, of Westmeath, was arrested.  He is charged with over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code.

 

(ADELAIDE –METCALFE, ON) On March 7, 2010, Middlesex OPP responded to an attempt theft at a local car dealership on Centre Road. Culprit(s) attempted to steal tires and rims off a vehicle but were unsuccessful.  The attempt theft occurred sometime over the previous few days.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Middlesex OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

            HOUSE DESTROYED IN FIRE

 

(CHIPPEWA OF THE THAMES, ON)  Chippewa of the Thames First Nation Police, with the assistance of Middlesex OPP, are investigating a house fire that occurred on Saturday March 6, 2010 at approximately 3:25 am. 

 

The Chippewa of the Thames Fire department responded to the scene to battle the fully engulfed house fire on East River Road.

 

The residence was under renovation and no one was home at the time of the fire.

 

The Ontario Fire Marshall and police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

PILLS TAKEN IN PHARMACY ROBBERY

 

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) The Middlesex OPP Crime Unit is currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a pharmacy on Friday March 5, 2010 at approximately 7:00 pm.

 

A lone male entered the Guardian Pharmacy located on Main Street, Glencoe, displayed a weapon and demanded Clonazepam (pills) from the pharmacist.

 

The suspect was given a quantity of Clonazepam and fled the scene on foot.

 

There were customers present in the store at the time of the robbery.  No one was injured.

 

The suspect is described as:

Male, Caucasian

5’9”, skinny, thin build

Scruffy facial hair

Wearing blue/purple lens sunglasses, a black hoodie, grey/black checkered sweater coat, blue jeans, Adidas running shoes and gloves

MIDDLESEX OPP MEDIA BRIEFS

 

(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON)  Overnight on February 27, 2010 culprits stole rims and tires from a pickup parked in a commercial lot on Centre Road.

 

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON)  Middlesex OPP conducted a vehicle stop on Richmond Street on March 2, 2010 at approximately 8:20am.  As a result of the stop, Derek ZANDWYK age 21, of London is charged with possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

 

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON)  On March 3, 2010 a RIDE check was conducted on Hyde Park Road.  19 motor vehicles were checked; no charges were laid.

 

(THAMES CENTRE, ON)  A RIDE check was conducted on Dundas Street on March 4, 2010.   A total of 25 motor vehicles were checked; no charges were laid.

 

(THAMES CENTRE, ON)  On Thursday March 4, 2010 at approximately 7:00 pm a Middlesex OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling eastbound on Hamilton Road.  The vehicle nearly struck another motorist and the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over.  The vehicle initially failed to stop for police but pulled over near Putnam Road.  The driver, 41 year old Lateresa PERNELL, of London, is charged with impaired driving, over 80 mgs and failing to stop for police contrary to the Criminal Code.  PERNALL faces an additional charge of driving with no insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Act.
