SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION IN LAKESHORE

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Thursday March 11th, 2010 around 7:30 pm Lakeshore OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Rochester Town Line.  Police advised that a 2006 Dodge Ram pick up truck travelling southbound, just north of 310 Lakeshore Rd, lost control and rolled over several times.

 

The male driver (22) from Staples was ejected from the vehicle with serious head and facial injuries and transported to Hotel Dieu.  OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator attended the scene, and is investigating the collision.

 

The road was closed for several hours during the investigation, and charges are pending.

TOBACCO SMUGGLERS CHARGED ON 401

IN LAKESHORE

(LAKESHORE, ON)  On Wednesday march 10th, 2010 around 1:30 members of the OPP West Region Highway Enforcement Team (WRHET) and Chatham OPP stopped a vehicle westbound on highway 401  in Lakeshore for traffic enforcement.

 

As a result of the vehicle stop, police seized over 22 cases of illegal tobacco, a quantity of Canadian currency, and a 1999 Ford Windstar mini van, that was turned over to the Windsor RCMP.

 

 As a result of the investigation 3 males from Windsor 1) Robert DALI (28),

2) Al SHADOOD (50) and Rivon DALI (25) were arrested and charged under the Excise Act for Possession of Unstamped Tobacco.   The males were released on an appearance notice, with an April 26th, 2010 court date in Windsor Courts.

POLICE PURSUIT IN KINGSVILLE

ENDS IN TWO ARRESTS

 

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Monday March 8th, 2010 around 12:00 am Kingsville OPP were involved in a police pursuit on Highway 3 and Marsh Rd. Police attempted to stop a 1996 Ford Ranger for a highway traffic act infraction, activating emergency lights and siren but the driver failed to stop for police.  The driver eventually parked the vehicle and both the driver and passenger fled on foot running down a tree line in a nearby field.

 

Kingsville OPP set up containment and Essex County OPP ERT and Canine Unit conducted a search, and successfully tracked 2 males in a wooded area.  Police advised that there was a large amount of copper wire in the bed of the pick up truck.

Kingsville OPP arrested and charged:

Donald JENKINSON  (28)  from Windsor with theft under  $500.00 ,breach of undertaking, and flight from police

Joseph SMITH 9#9) from Chatham-Kent with theft under $5000.00.

 

Both male parties were held for show cause hearing in Windsor Courts.

WEEKEND OCCURRENCES

 

 

(ESSEX, ON) On Friday March 5th, 2010 around 9:30 pm Essex OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program at County Rd 11 in McGregor, and County Rd 20 E in Harrow.  Police checked 80 vehicles, administered one roadside screening device test, with 100 % compliance.

On Saturday March 6th, 2010 around 7:30 pm Essex OPP responded to a break and enter in the 70 block of Brien Ave in Essex.  Police observed 3 males in the fenced area of the property.  Police were approached and advised that one of the males was seen discharging a fire extinguisher in the air. Police arrested and charged 2 males (17, 18) from Essex, and one male (17) from Lakeshore under the trespass to property act, and were released unconditionally. 

 

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Friday March 5th, 2010 around 11:30 pm Kingsville OPP responded to a suspicious person in the 200 block of Owenwood Dr.  Police advised that citizen out walking a dog observed a male exit the neighbour’s shed and run onto Heritage Rd.  The male is described as white, in his 20’s, wearing a brown coat, possibly with plaid, and a back pack.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Kingsville OPP at 519-733-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On Saturday March 6th, 2010 around 6:00 pm Kingsville responded to an impaired driver travelling south on Division Rd. Police advised that a citizen called in to report that a 2009 grey Chevrolet Silverado was weaving over the centre line.  Police located the vehicle and the male driver (52) from Kingsville was arrested and charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 blood alcohol content, and fail to comply with an undertaking.  The male was held for a show cause hearing.

On Saturday March 6th, 2010 around 1:30 Kingsville OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program at County Rd 29.  Police checked 48 vehicles with 100 % compliance.

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Saturday March 6th, 2010 around 2:00 pm Lakeshore OPP responded to a theft in the 1000 block of Lilydale Ave in Lakeshore.  Police advised that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered a locked garage and stole a SRM power computer from a bicycle, valued at over $2500.00.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Lakeshore OPP at 519-728-1810 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

 

(TECUMSEH, ON) On Saturday March 6th, 2010 around 2:00 am Tecumseh OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on County Rd 19 at St Gregory’s in Tecumseh.  Police activated emergency lights, and siren and the vehicle failed to stop. The driver struck 4 parked vehicles during the pursuit, and finally into bushes on Meander St.  Two males fled westbound on foot. Canine and ERT were to track the area with negative results. Through further investigation with, Tecumseh OPP and the  Essex County OPP Youth Crime Unit, a male youth 17 yrs old from Tecumseh was arrested and charged with 1) dangerous operation of a motor vehicle 2) take motor vehicle without owner’s consent, and 3) flight from police officer. The youth was released on a promise to appear, and undertaking with an April 16, 2010 court date in Windsor Courts.

AGGRESSIVE DRIVING ON 401

OPERATION BABY JACK

 

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) On Saturday March 6th, 2010 members of the Chatham OPP Traffic Unit, and Western Region Highway Enforcement Team took advantage of the spring like weather and conducted traffic enforcement along the 401 Highway in Essex and Kent County.

 

Operation Baby Jack targeted aggressive drivers on the westbound lanes of the 401.  Police issued 37 speeding tickets; most drivers were travelling 130-140 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone.

 

The OPP would like to remind motorists that speed kills, and aggressive driving will not be tolerated.

(ESSEX, ON) On Wednesday March 3rd, 2010 around 11:30 am Essex OPP responded to an animal complaint in the 190 block of Harvey St. in Essex. Police advised that an 18 month male orange calico cat came home with major facial injuries.  The cat suffered a broken nose and jaw, and is believed to have been deliberate in nature.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex OPP at 519-738-3796 or Crime Stoppers at

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Friday March 5th, 2010 around 2:00 pm Kingsville OPP conducted a vehicle traffic stop on County rd 23 in Kingsville.  Police detected a strong odour of marihuana, and arrested and charged the male driver (20) from Leamington with CDSA 4(1) Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30grams.  The male was released on a promise to appear with a march 29th, 2010 court date in Windsor Courts.

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Monday march 1st, 2010 around 10:30 Lakeshore OPP responded to a theft from vehicle in the 1700 block of County Rd. 27 in Lakeshore.  Police advised that sometime over the weekend unknown suspect(s) stole a “warn” winch that was bolted on the front of a pick up truck. The Warn winch is black and silver in colour, and worth $900.00. 

On Thursday march 4th, 2010 around 4:00 am Lakeshore OPP responded to an attempt theft of a motor vehicle in the 150 block of Seventh St. in Lakeshore.  Police advised that unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain access to a locked vehicle, damaging the door handle, and scratching the vehicle across the tailgate, along the rear of the vehicle.

(TECUMSEH, ON) On Thursday march 4th, 2010 around 12:10 am Tecumseh OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program at riverside Drive and Chene Rd.  Police checked 30 vehicles, administered one roadside screening device with 100% compliance.

On Thursday march 4th, 2010 around 2:30 am Tecumseh OPP conducted a traffic stop on Green Valley Drive.  Police advised that a 2000 Honda Accord failed to stop at the stop sign.  Police detected alcohol, and administered a road side screen test.  The male driver (23) from Tecumseh was issued a 3-day licence suspension notice, and his vehicle was towed.

KINGSVILLE YOUTH ATTACKED

 

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Friday March 5th, 2010 around 2:00 am Kingsville OPP responded to a break and enter in the 1400 block of Oxford Ave. in Kingsville.  Police advised that the victim heard the door inside the garage being opened. The victim opened the door and saw an unknown male standing on the garage step.  The victim was attacked by a second male with a weapon, and sustained non life threatening injuries to upper arm.

 

The unknown suspect’s are described as

white male, approximately 16- 18 yrs,  5’6” – 5’8”, 160 lbs, wearing a dark coloured hoodie

black male,15-18 yrs,  5’4”, 120 lbs,big ears,  wearing yellow jogging pants,  gray/white sweatshirt and white gloves

 

Essex County OPP ERT and Canine Unit attended and conducted a track.  Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and seized evidence left behind by the suspects. BEWARE OF CALLERS REQUESTING

BANK INFORMATION

 

 

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 Lakeshore received a complaint of an unknown person looking to obtain banking information over the phone.  Police advised that the person requested verification of a Visa card, when the complainant requested more information the person hung up.

 

Police are advising that you never give personal banking information over the phone to someone you don’t know. If someone calls looking to verify personal information get the persons name and number who is requesting the information, and contact your banking institution directly.

            SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN LAKESHORE

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Monday March 1st, 2010 around 4:00 pm Lakeshore OPP Essex and Lakeshore Fire Rescue Service attended a fire in the 200 block of Gallos Rd.  Police advised that a neighbour observed smoke coming from the barn and contacted the fire department.  Upon police arrival the barn was fully engulfed as Essex and Lakeshore Fire Rescue Service were attempting to put the fire out.

 

Lakeshore OPP located foot prints located near the fire, and leading away from the fire and called ERT and Canine to conduct a search in the surrounding area. Essex County Criminal Investigation Unit and Lakeshore Fire Inspector are investigating the fire.

On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 11:00 pm around   Essex OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program on Talbot St in Essex.  Police checked 190 vehicles with 100% compliance.

 

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 around 8:30 am Kingsville OPP responded to a theft from vehicle in the 20 block of Viola Cr. in Kingsville. Police advised that sometime overnight an unlocked vehicle was entered and unknown suspect(s) stole a wallet containing credit cards, and personal identification.  Police remind citizens to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from their vehicles.  “Lock it or lose it”.

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 around 9:00 am Lakeshore OPP responded to a theft in the 8000 block of County Rd 46 in Lakeshore.  Police advised that sometime overnight suspects stole a 2010 John Deere lawn tractor worth over $3000.00, and a silver 2005 USC utility trailer worth $3500.00. Essex County Criminal Investigation Unit and Lakeshore OPP patrolled the area with ATV’s. (TECUMSEH, ON) On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 around 8:40 am Tecumseh OPP responded to a break and enter to a business in the 3000 block of Odessa Drive.  Police advised that sometime between Sunday February 28th, and Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 unknown suspect(s) cut the lock off a trailer and stool spools of copper wire, approximately worth $10,000.00. On Monday March 1st, 2010 around 12:00 am Essex OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program at King St. E in Harrow.  Police checked 17 vehicles with 100% compliance.

 

(KINGSVILLE, ON) On Sunday February 28th, 2010 around 3:30 pm Kingsville OPP responded to a theft in the 1200 block of Centre Ave in Kingsville.  Police received information regarding a stolen 9mm Beretta Handgun.  The Beretta was replaced by a similar looking pellet pistol.  A Kingsville male (18) was arrested by Windsor Police Service with the Beretta in his possession.

 

(LAKESHORE, ON) On Saturday February 27th, 2010 Lakeshore OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program in Lakeshore.  Police checked 17 vehicles, administered 3 roadside screening tests with 100% compliance.

 

(TECUMSEH, ON) On Monday March 1st, 2010 Tecumseh OPP conducted foot and vehicle patrols in the commercial and industrial area in Tecumseh, and Oldcastle.  Police conducted 3 vehicles stops, issuing 3 HTA charges.
