Alcohol Ban in Provincial Parks

(Chatham-Kent, Ont) As we enter the Victoria Day weekend Chatham OPP and Ontario Parks will be working together to make the period safe for everyone enjoying our community.

The yearly alcohol ban starts 10 days prior to the statutory holiday. The “zero tolerance” policy will mean that anyone found with alcohol within Rondeau Provincial Park or Wheatley Provincial Park will face charges and automatic eviction, and cannot enter any other Provincial Park for 72 hours.

New legislation makes the registered owner of a campsite liable for any violations that occur on that site. Park Wardens have always had all the authority of a provincial police officer when performing their duties within a Provincial Park.
